Annual Fund

Contributing to the Besant Hill Annual Fund is the way in which parents, trustees, grandparents, alumni families, and friends keep our school at the forefront of providing an outstanding education to our students.

The Annual Fund is our number one philanthropic priority and the first gift we ask of all members of our school community, as tuition covers only part of our annual per student expenditure. We rely on Annual Giving donations for 5% of the budget which translates to approximately $2,000 per student.

Unrestricted annual gifts can be put to use immediately in the area of greatest need to support programs that make BHS distinctive. Our students are grounded not only in academics, the arts and athletics, but also in environmental science, philanthropy, ethics, cultural literacy, social responsibility, and leadership skills, which are essential tools for 21st-century leadership. Annual gifts also support our commitment to attracting, retaining, and nurturing our excellent faculty.

All gifts are welcome, needed, appreciated, and tax deductible. Regardless of the amount, gifts go to work immediately on the current fiscal year and impact every corner of campus life.

Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have.

Be the Random Act of Kindness for Our Community

A new school year is upon us in the Happy Valley, and with it, comes our number one fundraising priority—the Annual Fund Campaign.

Random Acts of Kindness

This year’s theme is “Be the Random Act of Kindness for Our Community.”  As with every year, we are looking to bridge the approximate $2,000 gap per student between what tuition and fees cover and what it really costs to provide our exceptional education experience.

Contest Between the Classes

Foundations and granting institutions look to see what percentage of each of a school’s constituents give to the Annual Fund.  We’ve been fortunate to have 100% participation in the last several years by our Board of Trustees, Faculty, and Staff. We’re hoping our Current Parents and Alumni will join them in this worthwhile effort.  To that end, we’ll be launching our third “Contest Between the Classes” this coming January, where teams of parents call the other parents in their respective classes in hopes of winning an off-campus event for their student’s entire class.  The highest participation percentage wins; no gift is too large or too small.  The senior class parents have won the contest two years in a row.  We’ve already heard from the junior class parents and they are ready for an upset.  Game on!

With gratitude,

Randy, Kathy, Kevin, and Marion
