Our Mission

Besant Hill School positions each individual to develop their intellectual and artistic abilities, to pursue integrity and excellence, and to embody the school’s motto, Aún Aprendo – “I am still learning.”

At Besant Hill, the shared values of inquiry, honesty, respect, compassion, and responsibility guide our daily interactions.

All Are Welcome

Each day, we strive to continue the mission of our founders. We work individually with every student as they follow their passion and achieve their goals. By fulfilling this promise, we hope to instill the unique set of values of the Besant Hill School Portrait of a Graduate that honor individuality, critical thinking, creative and artistic passions, global citizenship, and environmental activism.

Please enjoy exploring our many photos galleries, videos, and information about our courses and programs. By exploring the site and reading our brochure, you will quickly see that we are a community of creativity, lifelong learning, and respect. Our unique approach to education, small size, committed faculty and staff, and beautiful location are what distinguish Besant Hill School from any other boarding school you may visit. You will find many examples of our extraordinary mission in action and our portrait of a graduate in all of them.

If you are a student interested in joining the Besant Hill School community, I encourage you to apply right away, and I personally invite you to Ojai, California for a visit.

Aún Aprendo,

Portia Johnson ’00
