Commendations

Twice per year, Besant Hill School acknowledges the above and beyond effort from our students. At each of the Commendations ceremonies, students are recognized by their teachers for the hard work they performed during the semester. Commendations is typically concluded with the presentation of the Coyote Award; the recipient for Spring 2021 is Tristan G. ’22.

Passing of the Torch

Besant Hill School has a deep tradition that takes place atop Senior Hill. After each Spring Commendations ceremony, the community gathers to celebrate the beginning rite of passage for the upcoming Seniors. The upcoming Seniors form a circle to receive the leadership responsibilities from the graduating class through the symbol of a small candle while live music is played. For everyone in attendance, it is a powerful experience that is amplified by natural beauty on campus.
