Spring Arts Celebration & Family Weekend

Spring Arts Celebration and Family Weekend is special two-day event in April when families, friends, and alumni join us to celebrate our students achievements in the arts. The weekend included an art gallery exhibition and reception, a concert, two performances of our Spring Musical, and a special tribute.

Student Art Exhibit & Welcome Reception

Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts, Logan Gallery
& Beato Atelier

The weekend began in the Logan Gallery, where art history class curated a student art exhibit. The show included ceramic, sculpture, a mobile, photography, paintings, and drawings. work from each student currently enrolled in a visual arts class and the student body at large.  The gallery was open to visitors throughout the weekend.

Festivities then moved to the Beato Atelier, the campus’ working art studio,  for an adult welcome reception where guests mingled while enjoying drinks and hors d’oeuvres before moving onto dinner and the first performance of this year’s spring musical Once Upon a Mattress.

Spring Musical

Once Upon a Mattress

Both nights, the Besant Hill School of Happy Valley Performing Arts Department performed the hilarious musical Once Upon a Mattress,  a comic/slapstick retelling of the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Before each performance, students spoke about the piece of music including the time-period, composer, and why the piece was chosen. Arwork for the Spring Concert program was designed by visual artist and photographer Han S. ’19.

Special Tribute
