Photos from End-of-Year Ceremonies & Celebrations

On June 2, twenty-six students graduated as the newest alumni of Besant Hill School of Happy Valley. End-of-year celebrations and ceremonies included Commndations Dinner & Award Ceremony, Passing of the Torch Ceremony, and Commencement Ceremony.

Commendations Dinner, Awards Ceremony, & Passing of the Torch

The evening before commencement includes a formal dinner to honor our entire student body, faculty, and staff. Following dinner, families join in for our Commendations Awards Ceremony. Each semester Commendations Awards recognize students for academic as well as community achievement. Students are recognized for residential leadership and one student per semester is honored with the Coyote Award. This award is given at the end of the commendations ceremony to honor a student who has shown leadership, outstanding participation, and enthusiasm in all areas of the auxiliary curriculum. Auxiliary curriculum areas include: community service, advisory, clubs, habitat crews, experiential education, class connections, sustainability, performing arts, sports and fitness.  Following the awards and tribute, the community gatheered around the bonfire where seniors passed a lit candle to rising seniors in the annual Passing of the Torch ceremony, followed by Mary’s homemade desserts!

June 2, 2018

Twenty-six students spoke from the heart during the our 72st Commencement Ceremony, many talking about the immense gratitude they felt towards the school, the faculty, and the land. It was a beautiful ceremony attended by our community, many family members, friends, former faculty, and alumni.
