Groovin’ with Oak Grove

Following a Friday pool party with Oak Grove students, Besant Hill students head over to the OGS campus to participate in Sunday’s Run for the Hills fundraiser event.

Gratitude Party

On Friday, April 13 we were thrilled to welcome Oak Grove School students for a Gratitude Party. Students enjoyed getting to know one another over a BBQ dinner, field games, swimming in the pool, and playing music.  OGS took such great care of us during our Thomas Fire evacuation. The party was just a small token of our immense gratitude and a great time was had by all! View more photos »

Run for the Hills

On Sunday, April 15, a group of students headed over to Oak Grove School to support the greater Ojai community and schools at the Run For the Hills 5k! All proceeds raised from registrations and donations at the event will go towards the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy for their efforts in Thomas Fire restoration. Diring the event, students set up a booth to reuse water bottles to plant seedlings of native plant species. Students and staff had the chance to visit with former Director of Sustainability Tod Cossairt, currently the Executive Director of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition. Along with the many local organizations participating in this “pre-earthday” event, Tod presented a grey-water systemn at the Green Coalition booth.

Kayla G. ’18 and Jamie C. ’19 organized Besant Hill students to raise money for the Ojai Land Conservancy restoration efforts. Tony J. ’20 worked the registration table, while Shu L. ’19 and Linh K. ’19 operated our booth, providing free planters with native seeds to the public Michael B. ’21 and Tsunaki I. ’19 ran in the 5K Fun Run, with Michael placing third in a field of over one hundred. Dave Cosby organized students to provide music into the afternoon.
