Studio Arts

Besant Hill School students in studio art classes examine content and style by studying history and culture as tools to uncover deeper meaning.  Students study with educators who are also practicing artists and creative professionals.  We instill confidence in students, so they can find their unique voice, and we teach how to apply this voice through vision and form. In-depth portfolio guidance is available for students who plan to apply to art schools and colleges.

Ceramics

The Besant Hill School and Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts support a long tradition of ceramic artwork. Students create functional work and sculpture through the application of a variety of hand building techniques, wheel throwing techniques, and glazed finishes. Ceramicists-in-residence at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts provide students with masterclass opportunities to learn foundations and advanced techniques directly from the artist.
