Weekend Trip to the Channel Islands

The weekend of May 12, two science teachers and eight students explored California’s Channel Islands, learning about the small island chain’s rich history and unique habitat. Channel Islands National Park encompasses five remarkable islands and their ocean environment, preserving and protecting a wealth of natural and cultural resources. Isolation over thousands of years has created unique animals, plants, and archeological resources found nowhere else on Earth and helped preserve a place where visitors can experience coastal southern California as it once was. Located just off the coast of Ventura and Santa Barbara, California’s Channel Islands provide a unique learning opportunity for students.
