Visual Arts
Ceramics

Year Appointed: 2011

B.A. Brooks Institute School of Film

Trevor was born and raised in Ohio. After high school he moved to NYC to study film at the School of Visual Arts. While taking a break from school he found clay. He moved to the Ojai area in 2006 to continue his education at Brooks Institute School of Film in Ventura, graduating in early 2010.

Even though Trevor’s formal education is in film, he’s been pursuing ceramics for the past 9 years, working the last four years with a local professional studio potter. He’s been teaching beginning ceramics since 2009 and has just completed work as a lab technician for the summer workshop series at Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe where he had the chance to meet and work with top ceramic artists from around the world.

The first thing about BHS that impressed Trevor was the fact that the word “artistic” is mentioned in the first sentence of its mission statement. Growing up in a Midwestern public school where art programs are the first to get cut, it was refreshing to be in a place where the importance of the arts is recognized, not only for those pursuing the arts but for everyone, for the creative thinking and problem solving art teaches and demands.
