Susan is originally from Indiana where she grew up in a large family, on a farm. She began her career in the nonprofit arena more than a decade ago with a diabetes foundation in Chicago. She moved to California when she married her husband, Talon, who also works for a nonprofit company. Since her arrival in California, she has worked with three nonprofit organizations, CAPS-TV, Ventura College Foundation and the Ventura County Community Foundation. It was through her work at these organizations that Susan developed a deep and abiding love for the people and places of Ventura County.

Susan learned of Besant Hill School through a co-worker at the Community Foundation, whose daughter attended the school. It was an easy decision for her to apply when a position opened in the Development Department. Susan is now the Development and Database Manager for Besant Hill School. Her goals are to keep a clean and accurate database, and assist the Development team any way she can.

Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, Tristin and Devon. She is an avid reader and will read just about anything she can get her hands on. Susan also enjoys doing volunteer work in the community, most recently with the Ventura County Arts Council and the Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation. She also helps her husband with the care and maintenance of his foam sword-fighting club, the Sword Coast Medieval Fighters Club.
