Lindsay Bergen joins the Besant Hill School community with nine years of teaching experience. She was born in New Hampshire, where her family still summers, and graduated from Bryn Mawr College. After college, she began a personal training company in the city of Philadelphia and the surrounding suburban area. At this time, Lindsay attended the University of Pennsylvania's Special Science program, which sparked her interest in teaching the life sciences. In 2001, Lindsay accepted her first teaching position with a boarding school outside Philadelphia, where she also met her husband, Peter. Since then Lindsay has taught biology, zoology, marine biology, chemistry, anatomy/physiology and experimental psychology. Most recently she was working with special education students. She has extensive professional development in the area of learning and emotional disabilities. Lindsay will complete her Master’s in Psychology in 2011.
Lindsay is a competitive runner. She has coached numerous teams and individuals in both track/field and cross-country. As a lifelong athlete, she enjoys being active outdoors, including biking, skiing and boating. Outside of athletics, Lindsay is an avid reader and loves music of any genre. Lindsay’s husband, Peter, also works at Besant Hill School in the ISP program and as Director of Capstone. They have a daughter, Madelyn. The Bergens embrace the lifestyle of boarding schools and are excited about joining the community and integrating the students of Besant Hill into their own family!
