Film - Screenplay writing

Eugenia Bostwick-Singer, teacher, screenwriter and actress has written screenplays (with her husband Ray Singer) for all the major television networks, TNT, Disney and DreamWorks. She has received industry awards for their scripts of Disney’s animated feature MULAN,(ANNIE Award), HBO’S IRON JAWED ANGELS, starring Hillary Swank (PEN-USA award, EMMY and HUMANITAS nomination) and DreamWork’s JOSEPH, KING OF DREAMS, with Ben Affleck (VIDEO PREMIERE Award). Her latest feature animation, MARCO POLO, is scheduled for release in 2013.

Born and educated on the East coast and seasoned in New York City (Lincoln Center, Circle Rep, Manhattan Theater Club, LaMama) and regional theaters, she has acted and directed at LA’s Ensemble Studio Theater, Mark Taper Forum, and written plays performed at the Barnsdall Park Theater and the Wilshire Ebell in Los Angeles.

She has a degree in Elementary Education and began her teaching career in inner city schools in Washington D.C. and New York City. She has worked with City Hearts, Lankersham Homeless Shelter and The Virginia Ave Project, teaching acting and screenplay writing to at-risk children in Los Angeles. Eugenia has taught at Pilgrim School in LA and Oak Grove School in Ojai. This is her fourth year of teaching screenplay writing at BHS. Inspiring and helping students find their voice through screenplay writing is the main focus of her film class.

Eugenia with Ray and their daughter, Ana Ming, '12, moved from Los Angeles to Ojai in 1996.
