Brian was born in Pomona, California. As a kid he enjoyed skateboarding and cycling. He spent a lot of time camping and sailing with his family. Together, they would go to the mountains and beach in the summer and the desert in the winter.
In college Brian studied plant science and worked as a horticulturist in California and Oregon before becoming a teacher.
His career as a teacher began at Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, California, where he taught Math, Biology, Earth Science, and Physical Education, and was the Outdoor Education coordinator. He then taught Math, Biology, and Science, and was a Physical Education coach at Desert Academy and St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Ojai Valley School in Ojai, and the Blue Oak School in Napa, California.
Brian is excited to be joining a tight knit progressive educational community that celebrates individuality, encourages collaboration and strives to enrich the social and emotional well being of its members.
After two years in Northern California he is overjoyed to be back in Ojai with his family: Betsy (BHS English Teacher), Sammy (14) , Will (11), a dog, three cats and two guinea pigs. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys playing guitar, surfing, reading, hiking, and mountain biking.
