Alexis graduated from University of Delaware three years ago with her B.A. in physics education. Although she loved her time spent at UD as an undergrad, she felt she was not yet finished with her education. She stayed for her master's, which she received in May 2009 in secondary science education. She absolutely loves science and math but struggled with concepts in these areas as a student. Because of this, she understands the need to mold the material to students of all different learning levels and make the content applicable to real world experiences. Alexis has a huge love and passion for astronomy and is thrilled to be teaching it this year.

Alexis' favorite thing about BHS is that teachers are given the freedom and support to carry out their classes as they see fit. Alexis is able to use everything she learned in graduate school and apply it everyday. She is also able to add in her own creativity and try new things with her students. Alexis' biggest goal is to bring up the standards of the science and math departments and fully prepare our students for life after high school in these areas, whether it be for college or beyond.

Alexis and her husband John live in the boys dorm with their two puppies, Leo and Cassiopeia. In their free time, they love to go to the beach and travel. You will also find Alexis at the gym or mall with her best pal Portia, hanging out with her amazing friends, or staring up at the beautiful night sky.
