A Message from the Chair of the Music Department

The music program at Besanthill is performance based, providing performance opportunities for all skill levels from beginning to advanced. These opportunities include not only school concerts, variety shows and assemblies, but off campus events as well. Some of these off-campus events include Ojai Day, M.L.K. Day, Battle of the Bands, performances at other county High Schools, the Beatrice Wood Studio, and a variety of other venues.

The styles and genres taught range from classical to Jazz and all eras of rock and contemporary idioms. The instructors within the department are all working professionals whose experience in real world situations is key to the creation of a viable performance ensemble or soloist.

Besides performance, songwriting and multi-track recording instruction and experience as well as music theory are offered through the program.

With our excellent theater, sound system, practice rooms, and recording facilities the students are offered a dynamic and inspiring environment to develop their musical skills and passions.
