  • A Wonderful Open House

    Posted January 20, 2016

Monday morning we hosted an engaged group of perspective families from all over the world for Open House. Families toured, visited classes, participated in a faculty panel, attended the assembly, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Our community did a wonderful job of making our guests feel welcome.

  • Aun Aprendo Magazine, Fall 2015

    Posted November 25, 2015

Our school's seasonal magazine, Aun Aprendo, is named after our school motto, which means "I am still learning." In this latest edition you will find articles, photos and links to video, save-the-dates, and more. Find alumni news in the Alumni Howl section. View as a PDF download, or as an interactive magazine (works best on desktop/laptop).

  • What are we thankful for?

    Posted November 19, 2015

The beautiful land our school occupies in Ojai, California! The wonderful community of teachers and students! Great food prepared by the kitchen! Our health! Our families! And thankful to the BHS Media Team for putting together this fun video of giving thanks!

Are you interested in applying to BHS? If so, it is probably one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. The application to Besant Hill School contains the general application, parent and student questionnaires, transcript request, student essay and three teacher recommendations. Your application will be read by each member of the Admissions Committee, who will then reach a decision about your acceptance to the school.

Although a demonstrated responsibility for learning is the most important criterion, the committee also looks for qualities of character and maturity, as well as the ability and willingness to contribute to the life of the school community. Differences in background, circumstance and educational opportunity are also valued and weigh in our decisions. Above all, we strive to bring a well-rounded, interesting and diverse group of creative students to BHS. These students should be eager to take advantage of the many opportunities the school has to offer.

Please contact us at any time, and we will do our best to make sure that applying to BHS is a positive experience.

Besant Hill School of Happy Valley is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)  and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS).

Besant Hill School offers open admissions by application and admits students of any color, national or ethnic origin, religion, or creed. It does not discriminate on the basis of any of the above, nor on gender or sexual orientation, in the administration of its educational policies, financial aid programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs.
